When I was a kid, I was usually the one in class chosen to do artwork. I made signs, drew maps, and whenever the teacher wasn't looking, worked on my own version of the comic strip "Pogo." I thought I might become an artist someday, because it was something I enjoyed doing as a hobby, like photography, and music, but most of my artwork over the years has centered around oil and pencil portraits of kids and pets as gifts for my family and friends. I am not a portrait artist in the professional sense, but now that the computer allows me to do a portrait from photos sent as attachments, and to take photos of the progress and send them back in return, I am looking for people online who would like to have a portrait done for a much lower price than a professional would charge. Every good artist has a good eraser.
I enjoy working with pencils as much as I do paints, and pencil drawings are fun and easy to do. No matter what the subject, a well done pencil drawing makes a unique gift. I will be adding more samples at the link for Pencil Portraits.
